21 Day Fix Review

So I went through what is included with the 21 day fix program here.  So now I wanted to give my 21 Day Fix review. I have now completed 2 rounds of it!    The nutrition is an integral part of this program.  I found it relatively simple to follow because if it fits in the containers you can eat it!  I found that I was eating too many carbs before and not enough healthy fats!  This nutrition plan really focuses on making sure you are getting the RIGHT amount of each food group!

 Nutrition Guide Review:  This nutrition guide nails clean eating right on the head!  The containers make it super easy to make sure you are getting the nutrition you need without counting calories!  I am in the 1200-1499 calorie group so I eat 3 green, 4 red, 2 purple, 2 yellow, 1 blue, 1 orange, and 2 tsp (oils, nut/seed butters) per day.  Here are the containers, the sizes, and what food group goes inside them.  The nutrition booklet lists the foods in each of these groups.

 You can either use the containers for measuring or eat right out of them!  I really liked using the containers for packing snacks such as yogurt, fruit, nuts, and veggies an hummus on the go!  For more information on the nutrition go here!

The program also comes with a shaker cup.  Shakeology is recommended for maximum results and I did drink it everyday!  It counts as a protein and really helps me stay on track- while doing this program and in general!  It curbs my sweet tooth cravings and literally tastes like a chocolate milkshake.  I also know I am getting a supercharged meal packed with essential vitamins and nutrients along with tons of superfoods : )  For more information on Shakeology and my journey with it click here!

The Workouts
All of the workouts with the exception of Pilates and Yoga Fix have the same short warm up consisting of jogging in place, jumping jacks, arms circles, lengthening side stretches, and twisting calf stretches.
 1.  Total Body Cardio
 After the warm up, this routine has 5 rounds consisting of 2 exercises each.  You do each exercise for 1 minute with a 20 second rest in between and then repeat!  I had never done cardio with weights and I must say I really enjoyed the challenge!   The exercises range from surrenders, to jogging in place, to woodchoppers.  The last round consists of two ab exercises. Ughh I am always so sore after this one!

2.  Upper Fix
Consists of 2 rounds consisting of 5 exercises each.  Again you do each exercise for a minute and have a 15 second break in between.  You do each round twice!  I used 8 and 12 pound weights for this one, though I probably need lighter ones for the twisting weighted punches especially!  This workout will BURN out your arms and also adds in a few ab exercises too!
3.  Lower Fix
HOLY LEGS!  My legs are always shaking after this one!  This one uses light and heavy weights as well and works every muscle in your legs.  From weighted lunges and squats to calf raises an seated leg raises.  Autumn throws in some nice 10 second holds in there on the end of some of the 1 minute exercises that BURN!

 4.  Pilates Fix
So I have done PiYo and yoga but I had never actually done pilates!  This workout flows right through and focuses on stretching and strengthening your body.  Your core will work in this one!  I felt it was a good recovery but that I still worked HARD!

5.  Cardio Fix

As a cardio junkie, I absolutely love this workout!  It will really get your heart pumping!  From high knees, and burpees, to lateral leaps an mountain climbers- there are a variety of exercise designed to make sure you are drenched by the end : )  There is also a full body bonus move just to see how far you can push!

 

 

6.  Dirty 30

 

I really like this one as it is a full body workout.  It works you arms, legs and abs with some creative exercises that I had never seen before!  My favorite move would have to be the weighted plank rows or the side ab leg raises.  Both new and challenging exercises to me.
7.  Yoga Fix
Ahh after working hard for 6 days it is nice to recover with this workout.  Focusing on balance, stretching, and strengthening this workout really leaves me feeling better after the beating my muscles have taken all week!  This workout flows right through and the 30 minutes is over before you know it!

8.  BONUS Plyo Fix
This workout is a cardio challenge!  it is the bonus workout included if you order through a coach.  This is my go too workout when I want a challenge.  Your heart will really be pumping in this one.  This one is 6 rounds consisting of 2  exercises each. You do each exercise for 30 seconds then have a 30 second rest.  You so each round twice.

9.  10 Minute Fix for Abs

 

This quick ab workout hits obliques, upper abs, and lower abs.  I generally did this 4 times a week after the scheduled workout.  It flows through a series of ab exercises for the first 5 minutes and then repeats.  And of course there is a bonus at the end- thanks Autumn!

 

I really like this program and even though I have moved on to Insanity Max 30 – I still use the containers.  This nutrition plan is something that can be followed for a life time and it makes healthy eating easy.
