Healthy Shamrock Shake Smoothie

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Today might be a day when the favorite McDonald’s Shamrock Shake sees sales skyrocket but did you know there are 54 ingredients in this shake?!  WHAT?!  From artificial dyes and preservatives, to high fructose corn syrup, 20 grams of fat and 82 grams of sugar in 680 CALORIES in a 16 oz shake! 

You can certainly make your own healthy version as I did and still enjoy the Shamrock Shake without all the shame!  This recipe has only 5 ingredients and is packed with healthy fresh spinach, and a bit of avocado to make it super creamy! 🙂
It also has calcium rich almond milk and fiber rich dates!  Add in a splash of peppermint extract for a delicious Shamrock Shake you won’t regret!

This recipe is also vegan and Paleo friendly!

For the 21 Day Fix this is 1/2 yellow, 1/2 blue, 1 green, and 1 purple!

Ingredients:

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (or water)
1/5 (about 1 1/2 Tbsp) avocado
1 handful of fresh organic spinach
1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract
5 soft Medjool dates, pitted (NO SUGAR ADDED!)
About 4 ice cubes
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a high power blender and blend until smooth and creamy!  Adjust sweetness if necessary and serve for a delicious, healthy treat! 🙂
