Healthy Air Fryer Tofu
Air fryers shot up in popularity a few years ago as a much healthier alternative to frying food, without losing the taste. It requires little to no oil, thus it cuts calories (by 70+%) and reduces fat. I was skeptical to try at first, but after all the hype, I wanted to try it out, as it’s always good to spice up your meals. The air fryer we have is the Crux 2.6 Qt, and I love it!
One of my favorite things to cook in it has become tofu. Tofu can take a long freaking time to cook and sometimes, just doesn’t turn out all that well. The air fryer gives it a golden light crisp, and of course, takes on the flavor of whatever you put on it. Keep scrolling for the delicious and healthy air fryer tofu recipe.
This is a quick and easy tofu bowl recipe-perfect for dinners during the week! You can eat it with many different sides, mine is some seasoned, roasted veggies, and garlic-lime brown rice. Tofu is the number one thing I always make sure to buy organic to avoids GMOs.
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 1 block of organic firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
- 2 cups of cooked brown rice (according to the packaging- I love the short grain brown rice)
- 3 cloves of garlic, diced
- 1/2 lime
- 4 cups raw kale
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 red onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce
- Himalayan Sea Salt
- Traders Joes 21 Seasoning Blend (or any salt-free seasoning)
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray
Directions
- Preheat air fryer to 380F.
- Mixed soy sauce and 1 chopped clove of garlic together. Coat tofu and let marinate for about 10 minutes.
- While the rice is cooking, chop all veggies.
- Place tofu in air fryer in a single layer. Cook for about 12 minutes, shaking a few times throughout to make sure it cooks evenly.
- Spray a medium pan with EVOO spray and place on medium heat. Add veggies, and season with 21 seasoning blend and a sprinkle of sea salt.
- Cook veggies for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Once the rice is cooked, add the remaining garlic, lime juice, and sea salt to taste. Stir well.
- Portion into 4 servings, and add more 21 Seasoning Blend to taste.
