Skinny Mojito Recipe

It’s the weekend!!  You worked hard all week and now it’s time to relax. Time for a drink, right?  You can ruin all your hard work with a cocktail that’s full of tons of sugar, hidden calories, and ingredient you don’t even know what they are!  Some drinks give you 500 plus calories- have 2 of those and you are already over 1000 calories on just drinks! I’ve got a skinny mojito recipe you are sure to love.

Mojitos and both delicious and refreshing.  Good news, they are low in sugar and light on the calories too when made right!  A mojito is made of fresh ingredients and zero-calorie seltzer water.  One drink rings in at about 80 calories if using the pure stevia leaf extract, or 115 calories if using honey, not too shabby!  You can spice it up and muddle different fruits- the good thing about this is you may not even need sweetener. I love a good strawberry mojito-muddle up some strawberries, and add them to this skinny mojito recipe.

Ingredients

1.5 oz white rum
1/2 a lime
5-6 mint leaves
3-4 ice cubes
Soda (seltzer) water (to fill glass)
1 scoop pure stevia leaf extract or 1 tsp honey

Directions

  1.  Put the stevia leaf extract (or honey) in a tall glass, squeeze the lime in and put the lime in the glass.
  2. Add the mint and muddle everything together.
  3. Add the rum and ice and fill glass with soda water. Stir!

Enjoy! For a nice twist, replace the soda water with La Croix flavored sparkling water.  The Coconut is my favorite and you can make a COCONUT MOJITO!  Try it out with different flavors and see which you like best.

Now imagine yourself, with your mojito on a warm summer day- just on your porch with the breeze flowing.
